Tiger Woods Severely Injured in Car Crash

Yesterday morning, golf prodigy Tiger Woods sustained major injuries after his suv veered off the road into brush in Ranch Palms Verdes.  Despite being alert and aware of the situation, he was unable to move.  Woods was extracted from the car after it was pried open with the jaws of life and was immediately taken to the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.

The Incident

According to CNN, Woods underwent emergency surgery on his right leg and ankle.  His leg was fractured in two places and his bone was exposed.  A rod was inserted in Woods’s leg to support his injured tibia and fibula.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said, “We have seen accidents with far less obvious (damage) that are fatalities”.  Villanueva also stated crashes are common on the section of road Woods was on.

As Woods appeared to be sober but lucid after the crash, no drugs or alcohol were found at the scene.  Therefore, drug test were not administered.

Daniel Rapaport, a correspondent for Golf Digest, suggested Woods was probably on the way to a shoot with Golf TV.  Previously he was filmed golfing with celebrities such as Dwayne Wade and Jada Pickett Smith.  He was supposed to instruct NFL quarterbacks Justin Herbert and Drew Brees the day of the crash.

Woods’s latest injuries comes a month after his fifth back surgery and will likely set him back further.  It would not be his first.  He has sustained multiple injuries from the sport and even developed an opioid addiction he has since recovered from.
