Fiery Crash in Lakewood

Sad to say, four people died after a truck hauling accidentally crashed into vehicles on the Interstate 70 near Denver. This caused a fire which melted the road and metal off the cars on Friday in Lakewood, Colorado. The authorities had to confirm Thursday afternoon of the death toll; There were twenty-eight vehicles pileup due to the fire. To get into more details, twenty-four cars along with four semis were involved with the crash.

Crash leads to an Explosion

Lakewood Police Department, Ty Countryman said, “We’re still trying to identify what some of the cars even are.” The Lakewood police also spoke with John Romero who described it as a chain reaction of the crashes and explosions due to the ruptured gas tanks. Romero said, “It was crash, crash, crash, and explosion, explosion, explosion.” Afterward, ten people were hurried to Saint Anthony hospital, and all of them has already been released except for one. The countryman believes that there are still lots of debris from the crash and everyone cannot shake this feeling off. Rogel Mederos who was driving the truck is suspected of causing the fiery crash. According to police, he has been arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide.

Where it all Started

Officials confirm that the 23 years old was heading down hill when he slammed into traffic. Apparently there was previous crash ahead of him on I-70. There is no sign of drugs or alcohol, but investigators are looking into whether the truck’s brakes were working properly. The chaotic crash happened just after the highway descends from the mountains, whereas, the signs signaled drivers to check to make sure their brakes are cool and work properly. The judge may also consider the bond during the advisement hearing while the formal charges have not been filed. Just as a safety reminder to always have your seat belts on and keep your eyes on the road!
