Disney College Program Workshop offered at Career Center

The Career Development Center at Rio Hondo College offered students a workshop for the Disney college program on Nov. 18 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Student Service Building, SS350.

The purpose of the Disney College Program is to teach students to build networking skills and allow them to receive numerous rewards.

By being involved in the program, students are able to get discounts at Disneyland or Disney world dining, merchandise, recreation locations and Resort hotels.

In order to be eligible to participate in this program, students must be currently enrolled and taking classes at an accredited program or institution and have completed at least one semester or have graduated within the past six months.

Each participant should be at least 18 years old or older by the time the program begins.

In addition, both U.S residents and international students are welcomed to attend the program; however, international students must be studying on an F-1 or J-1 visa in order to be eligible.

There are three components of the Disney college program: living, learning and earning. Participants are able to live in the housing complexes near Disneyland or Disney world.

Each apartment is fully furnished and has kitchen appliances, high speed internet etc. in order to make participants feel comfortable while attending the program.

Participants also have the opportunity to acquire different skills during their Disney internship.

They are able to take collegiate courses such as Disney Advanced Study at Hospitality Management, Disney Corporate Analysis, Disney Organizational leadership and so on.

Likewise various types of seminars are offered in the programs as well. The Disney Exploration Series seminar allows each participant to gain the knowledge of how the Disney resort operates.

On the other hand, Professional Development seminars allow students to learn more about a specific line of business within the Walt Disney World Resort such as engineering, entertainment show production, and security professional development.

It’s important to note that Disney college program is a paid internship. Students will have the chance to live either in Florida or Anaheim and to work at the rate of $8.25 to $10 dollars per hour.

Depending on the locations that participants prefer, they are able to work either indoor or outdoor at different rates of pay.

There are various types of positions offered in the program. Some of them include park greeter, guest services, quick-service food and beverage cashier.

After completing the Disney college program, participants will be eligible to continue their career by applying to the Disney Professional Internship program at a later dat.

It allows participants to apply for a higher position and further develop their skills at a world-renowned company.

Students who are interested in participating in such paid internship program are welcomed to attend the event.
