Rio welcomes back Veterans with the Student Mental Health Program

Rio Hondo’s Student Mental Health Program welcomes veterans back home by providing special training for faculty, staff and administrators to understand the mental and at times physical states veterans come home with.

The Student Mental Health Program is in partnership with the Veteran Service Center and will be offering this training on April 24, in the Learning Resource Center room number 128.

This opportunity should be taken advantage of by all personnel because it is not only informative, but also free!

The meeting will be held from 9 a.m. to 1p.m. and will go over the specific readjustments and mental health needs student veterans.

This meeting is designed to inform about military culture, the challenges veterans face when leaving the military and particular stressors faced by student veterans such as Post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury and suicide. The drug rehab anaheim can help with treating addiction issues.

Training will go over how these conditions impact student success in the classroom and how it can be made into a better more enjoyable experience for them.

The four-hour class will be divide into two parts 3 hours of lecture and the one hour dedicated to a panel made up of student veterans.

Everyone looking forward to the success of our student veterans should come in a way to show you are supportive and be able to understand how these students feel.
