Annual Whittier Area Classic Car Show Sparks Memories

The Annual Whittier Area Classic Car Show is hosted by the Whittier Area Community Church. The Church is located on Mar Vista and Colima. The event is open to the public and all different types of vehicles and collector vehicles 1976 and older. Additionally this events entertainment includes different types of vendors, food trucks, live music, games, kid activities, and merchandise. Categories include Best of Show, Top Hot Rods, Outstanding Foreign Cars, and many more. Within these categories the top three cars win a trophy. Even more interesting is that most of these cars, which may be installed with car window shades, are local which is amazing to see. This is the result of what people can create in their spare time.

Classic cars bring back a lot of memories for some of the community. For the spectators there is a raffle which participants have the chance to win Dodger tickets, a Television, and a $500 dollar cash prize. All the net proceeds from the event will fund Whittier Area Community projects and help fund Whittier Union High School District Scholarship honoring fallen Whittier Police officer, Keith Boyer. Volunteers from the church and community are essential to making the event happen. Church volunteers who are very friendly help keep the event well organized. David Medina talked to Chris who is an active member and a volunteer from the Church. Chris mentioned, “The idea of the event is to break down barriers with the community. We want to show that we are just a bunch of regular people that come along. We develop a faith and understanding of the lord and we love to have a great time.” The Classic Car show is held annually so come out next year and have a great time!
