Cerritos College and Norwalk School Threat Not Credible
Cerritos College posted a safety alert warning of an “unspecified threat” made to their campus and another Norwalk school Sunday night. The sheriff’s department has identified the source of the social media threats and has deemed them not credible.
“As a precaution, Campus Police will have presence on campus throughout the day,” Cerritos College President Jose L. Fierro said in an email sent out to students and staff, which was also posted on the school’s site. “There has not been a specific threat against Cerritos College.”
Hasmik Danielian, Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District, also sent out a message to students and staff. Her’s came via voice message.
“The sheriff’s department investigated the threats and determined it was a hoax,” Danielian said in the voicemail. “School will be held as normal. Rest assured, that the safety and security of our students and staff are our number one priority.”
Cerritos College and the Norwalk-La Mirada USD schools will all run as scheduled today.
