Fetty Wap climbs the charts with his debut album release

Fetty Wap, born Willie Maxwell, is an American hip-hop recording artist from Paterson, New Jersey.

His debut self-titled album is on track to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, as Billboard reports.

His hits such as “My Way”, “Again”, and “Trap Queen” have helped turn him into one of this year’s most biggest breakout artists.

The 24-year-old rose to fame this year after hitting it big with his debut single, “Trap Queen,” which made its way at No. 2 on the Hot 100 chart in May.

As a young kid growing up in a housing project he encountered a disability that lead him to losing an eye to glaucoma. Until this day he has not let that stop him from pursuing his dreams and is turning his situation to inspire other singers.

Wap’s rise to the top in 2015 isn’t just inspiring considering his background, it’s genuinely impressive.

Wap released his debut album with RGF Production on Sept. 25; it’s pulsing, tight, and thoroughly tuneful.

Loyal to his longtime Remy Boyz 1738 crew, rapper Monty and the crew are only ones who happen to be on the album frequently as Wap decided not to enlist any features from big time artists.

Average ratings for his album are currently 3.5 out of 5 which is not bad for an artist who just started.

The day after his album was released however, Wap was injured in a motorcycle crash in his hometown and later reported that he had broken his leg.

After news of the accident fans went to social media and tweeted their support, and made #PrayForFetty which turned out to be a worldwide Twitter trend.

Wap achieved the rare feat of having his first three consecutive singles, “Trap Queen,” “My Way,” and new single, “679” all at the same time ranking in the Top 10.

When his fourth single came out “Again” in August, he became the only artist in the history of the Hot Rap Songs chart to have four singles reach the Top 10 simultaneously.

With 255 million YouTube views, 250 million Spotify plays, and formerly No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, Wap is not a one-hit wonder.

His first single “Trap Queen” won’t be fading away from your memory anytime soon.

It’s been a captivating journey for Wap and his crew that will most likely continue in 2016.
