UFC: Tony Ferguson Hit with Restraining Order

Former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson is dealing with a restraining order placed against him. His wife, Cristina Ferguson, filed the restraining order against the former champion Wednesday alleging domestic violence, according to court records.

MMA Junkie first reported on different police reports that were made against Ferguson early last year and within the current month. The police reports insist that Ferguson has not displayed any harm or violence to his family but was dealing with a condition that was getting worse. It was an attempt to get Ferguson some help with whatever he was going through. According to the reports, Ferguson volunteered to seek help.

Court records indicate an investigation will take place March 22 and a domestic violence hearing will take place April 5

Cristina Ferguson has been granted a temporary restraining order against her husband while the investigation takes place. Her lawyer, Jeffrey L. Heath, released a statement on her behalf to ESPN detailing the reason for the restraining order.

“Tony Ferguson is a good husband and good father to our son. The current legal proceedings are a part of a process to ensure that Tony will receive the help necessary to continue being the best possible, as well as to pursue his passion and career as a UFC champion fighter. All positive well wishes are sincerely appreciated, and I hope our privacy will be respected.”

Tony Ferguson has remained relatively quiet since the news broke. He released a statement early Friday morning.
