Return of the Twinkies

Hostess Twinkies and other delicious products are finally back on the shelves after being taken down just eight months ago.
Last year Hostess announced they would be going out of business after struggling to make a successful profit in years and becoming buried in a $1 billion debt. People across the country began to raid their local super markets and stock up on their favorite Hostess treats thinking they will never see them again. Stores sold out within hours.
It didn’t take long for the 83-year-old company to be bought out by Apollo Global Management and Metropoulos & Company for only $410 million.
Under the new management, Twinkies and the rest of the Hostess products were back on the shelves July 15. They came back with the same sale price of $3.99 for a box of 10. Sales are now at a record high since the relaunch of Hostess treats.
Twinkies are now half an ounce lighter and only 135 calories instead of 150 for one cake. The new Hostess is also planning on coming out with 100-calorie snacks to give everyone the same great taste with fewer calories for a much healthier alternative.
Those who once filled their shopping carts in fear that they’ll never get to have their favorite snack should be happy to know that Twinkies and the rest of the Hostess treats are back. The Twinkies are here to stay.
