Ravens Hand New England its First Loss

Recap

Week 9 of the NFL season came with a couple of surprises. The Chargers beat the Packers, Miami finally won a game, and the Patriots lost their first game of the year. New England was looking like one of the best teams in the NFL along with their undefeated counterparts, the 49ers. Now they don’t seem too powerful after a 17 point loss. Ravens quarterback, Lamar Jackson, was the man of the match as he ran around the Patriots’ defense. The threat of Jackson running opened up the Raven’s rushing game with Mark Ingram. He combined with Lamar Jackson for 210 yards on the ground.

Pats Lack of Production

Despite the Patriots not putting up big points on the board, Tom Brady was able to have a quality game. This is nothing new for New England fans. Unfortunately, the running game wasn’t able to have any type of success. The Patriots would only amass 74 total rushing yards on 17 carries over the night. The low rushing numbers were the cause of Tom Brady having to throw the ball almost 50 times. His top 2 receivers, Julian Edelman and Mohamed Sanu had to carry the receiving load. Each of the 2 star-wideouts had at least 10 catches on the night.

The Lamar Jackson Show

In just his first season as the starting quarterback, Lamar Jackson is showing out to the league. The former Heisman winner has displayed excellent running ability along with a worthy arm. His attributes were apparent in the 17 point lead over the juggernaut known as the New England Patriots. Jackson had 3 touchdowns on the night and two of them were rushes. He only threw for 163 yards, but he didn’t need a huge passing attack. Jackson was able to exploit the high powered Patriots defense with his legs. If the rest of the league knew how valuable the Raven’s young QB is then the 2018 draft would look a lot different.
