Rio Hondo was back in action this week taking on Cerritos college in a South Coast Conference match up.

Rio Hondo came into the game 2-2 in conference play and were looking to change that.

Rio Hondo had freshman pitcher Andrew Martinez on the mound who was looking for another strong start.

Rio Hondo would score first in the second inning, scoring two runs on a double from Diego Perez and scoring Sal Tabullo, then Diego would score on a wild pitch later that inning.

A scary moment would come in the fifth inning when Rio Hondo’s starting pitching took a hard line drive off his calf.

Martinez would finish the inning but gave up two.

Most of Rio Hondo’s baserunners came from walks.

Cerritos pitcher Leonard Salas had trouble finding the strike zone, but when he did Rio Hondo’s hitters took advantage of it.

Rio Hondo would end up scoring nine runs to secure the win and improve their conference record.

The final score would be 9-6 in favor of Rio Hondo.
