Duke recap including Wake Forest game
The Duke University Blue Devils survived an upset opportunity against Wake Forest in their final game at Cameron Indoor Stadium this season. No. 4 Duke were propelled by freshman standout RJ Barrett who led the Blue Devils in scoring with 28 points. Duke came into the game favored by 24 points, but as injuries piled up it made it harder for the blue devils to close out the game.
Duke Blue Devils overcome offensive struggles
The Duke Blue Devils outlasted Wake Forest 71-70 in the final home game. The Blue Devils were once against playing without freshman phenom Zion Williamson. The Demon Deacons made it very difficult for the Blue Devils after being crushed 87-65 in their last meeting.
RJ Barrett leads Duke with Zion sidelined
The Blue Devils trailed by as many as 10 points in the second half. As Williamson was sidelined, the Blue Devils looked for Barrett and No. 3 option Cameron Reddish to step up their game. Reddish was on the bench for most of the game with three early fouls which led to Barrett as their only scoring threat.
Blue Devils avoid embarrassing loss
Barrett ended the first half with 15 points which helped the Blue Devils lead 35-34 heading to the second half. The Blue Devils trailed by 10 points in the second half with 16 minutes remaining. Barrett helped the Blue Devils overcome their deficit and avoid an embarrassing loss at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Heading into the tourney, Duke hope to get Zion Williamson back on the floor.
Coach K status on Zion
Duke Blue Devils face rival North Carolina on Saturday at Chapel Hill. Coach Krzyzewski spoke on Williamson status for Saturday’s game “ I don’t think he’ll be ready for Saturday. I have to be careful not to push this, but I would be surprised if he wasn’t ready by the ACC tournament”.
