Is It Too Soon Now to Sack Sarri?

Chelsea F.C has been struggling this season under new manger Maurizio Sarri. The Italian manager lost several games to reach top 4 in the Premier League table. Jan. 19, the Blues lost 2-0 against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Just nine days later, they got embarrass by Bournemouth 4-0 on the road as well.

After the match, Sarri was furious at his players because how they performed. Journalist asked lots of questions after the frustration he had with his players. Chelsea’s staff had to be outside the dressing room as he stated that he can not motivate his players during training and regular matches.

Chelsea had opportunities to get back to winning against Manchester City, but City head coach Pepe Guardiola tactically outclassed Sarri; They lost 6-0 against Man City at the Etihad Stadium.

This is the first time Chelsea concede more than five goals in one game since 1991. The Chelsea fans were angry after the game. Fans expressed their opinions about what the board should do to Sarri. Some also stated that players are out of position while others say the players don’t want to perform for him.

When Sarri joined Chelsea, high profile midfielder Jorginho signed the same day. The 27-year-old Italian inked a five-year contract with the Blues. Jorginho played superb early in the season but had dreadful performances during the Christmas period. Fans prefer defensive midfielder N’Golo Kante over Jorginho because he performs better each game as a defensive midfielder than the Italian. Fans believe Sarri is not good enough as Chelsea manager and they are not confident to get Champions League football next campaign. Chelsea played well in the beginning, but they need points to advance. Forward Gonzalo Higuian, who’s on a loan for the Blues, has been dreadful this season only scoring 2 goals in 3 appearances.

Sarri has been coaching Chelsea for six months and must compete with the top six sides. Chelsea sit sixth on the table this season and their goal is to reach top 4 to secure Champions League football for next season.

Manchester United and Arsenal are still competing to reach 4th place as well. Chelsea still remain in the FA Cup against Manchester United and Europa league against Swedish side Malmo FF. Sarri still has a chance to win the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley Stadium in London on Feb. 24.
