Lady Roadrunners fall to 3rd place

The Lady Roadrunners can’t handle the heat and lose to Desert Lady Roadrunners 9-0, in 5 innings and fall to 3, place.

Rio, coming off of their second straight defeat didn’t look like the same team that went on a tear just a month ago. Jacquelyn was the losing pitcher for Rio Hondo as she gave up six earned runs and ten hits to desert.

Rio only managed to get three hits off of pitcher Alyssa Fuimaono, with two coming from pitcher Jacquelyn Valdez and second baseman Doralicia Loza.

Desert looked as dominant has their record indicated as pitcher Alyssa Fuimaono dominated Rio for five innings, allowing only three hits and striking out 3.

It was her fifth win of the season. Catcher Linda Ontiveros and third baseman Diana Terrazas was a tied with two RBIs apiece and centerfielder Lauren Ortiz had three hits.

Desert currently is on a fourteen game winning streak starting from March 10, against Barstow. They looked as the dominant team that there record (29-4), indicated.

Rio has three more games on the schedule until the end of the season. They will have one home game against Barstow on Friday, April 11, and will have another home game on the 16, of against Victor Valley. The last away game is a rematch against Desert on the 18, of April.

Currently Rio is in third place behind San Bernandino in the conference standings. If Rio can wins its next three games, they have a chance to move to second place and take over San Bernardino.

The CCCAA championships are on May 16, to May 18, at Bakersfield College.
