Wayne Rooney scores in a 3-0 victory against West Brom.

Manchester United kept a clean sheet and scored three goals in a 3-0 victory against West Brom at the Hawthorns.

The game had an early start, 4:45 a.m. here in the west coast, as Manchester United tried to improve on their recent displays and snatch all three points against bottom of the table West Brom.

United entered the game in seventh place with 45 points, 12 points behind fourth place and a champions league spot.  West Brom came into the match one point ahead of the relegation zone and having beaten Manchester United earlier in the season, 2-1, at Old Trafford.

Victor Anichebe got the first chance of the game for West Brom in the 13 minute mark, when he got a shot off, from just inside the area, but shot it a few feet wide of the second post.

United did not enjoy much of the possession in the first 20 minutes of the match, but threatened after the half hour mark as Adnan Januzaj crossed the ball into the far post, where Rafael da Silva met the ball and headed it towards goal.  Ben Foster, West Brom’s goalkeeper, did well to make the save and deny the visitors a goal.

Three minutes later, Phil Jones netted a goal, heading in the ball from a Robin Van Persie free kick and putting Manchester United up, 1-0.

In the second half, Manchester United doubled their lead when Rafael da Silva set up an unmarked Wayne Rooney, with a cross at the far post, and the English international did well to head the ball towards the back of the net.

Danny Welbeck came off the bench and got the third goal for Manchester United in the 82 minute securing the victory and three points for Manchester United.
