Rio Hondo College Library is Hosting Multiple Workshops in November
The Fall 2022 semester at Rio Hondo College is almost over, but the Rio Hondo Library is now holding multiple workshops throughout the month of November, until early December.
The Rio Hondo Library workshops opened on Monday, Nov. 7 and will be available to students until Friday, Dec. 2. The workshops will touch on topics such as using the library catalog, online databases, and avoiding plagiarism.
Most of the workshops can be taken in-person at the Learning Resource Center (LR) in room 224 or online, via Zoom. With the online option, students can watch the pre-recorded workshop at any point during the day or week.
The Zines! and Microsoft/Google Apps workshops are the only two that students can’t online. Students have to be take both on campus. However, the Zines! workshop is the only one taking place in LR-230.
After completing a workshop, students can complete an online quiz to receive credit. The Rio Hondo Library website notes that is especially helpful for students using the workshop as an extra credit, or class, assignment.
Rio Hondo Library Fall 2022 Workshops Dates and Times
Throughout the month, the workshops will be held almost every school day. However, on Veterans Day and Thanksgiving break, the Rio Hondo campus and Library are closed. But students do have the option of taking the online, asynchronous, workshops over the breaks.
The majority of workshops are being held around four times throughout the month, with the exception of a few workshops that will be held two or three times.
Rio Hondo students have already received emails containing the exact dates and times when the workshops are taking place. The information is also available online, on the Rio Hondo Library website.
Students are required to wear masks inside the Rio Hondo Library and for in-person workshops. The Rio Hondo Library has additional resources for students including access to study spaces, computers, and research assistance.
