Rio Hondo welcomed the 2014-Accreditation staff on Sept. 30, in the Learning Resource Center.
Staff and faculty gathered in LRC-124 on Tuesday, at 8:30 a.m., to meet the team of accreditors, who would be throughout the campus.
Rio Hondo’s Accreditation Liaison Officer, Howard Kummerman, started the meeting. After a couple of minutes on the podium he handed the podium over to Dr. Willard Lewallen, the chair of the team.
Dr. Lewallen, the Superintendent/President of Hartnell College in Salinas California, described the goal of the team.
The goal was to help Rio Hondo become a better institution. He continued by said he wanted to support Rio Hondo by making it progress and move forward.
He warned that some of the team members might pop into the classrooms, but this is no need to be alarmed. Dr. Lewallen said, “Like a good umpire, nobody will know we’re there.”
The team is going to be as unnoticeable as possible. He is happy to help Rio Hondo. He used to play college baseball for Cal Poly Pomona on Rio’s field.
