RH Student artists to showcase their work at prestigious exhibit

All of the Rio Hondo applicants were accepted for the first time this year in showcasing their work at the annual “Kilnopening.edu 2014”exhibition located at the American Museum of Ceramic Art (AMOCA) in Pomona from Saturday, April 12, until Tuesday, June 1.

The attendees include Art Vasquez, Alexandro Vergara, Jared Chavez, Carol Sun and Danielle Cansino. They will display their ceramic sculptures as well as sell them in honor of expressing the importance of college-level programs.

The committee based on their inner personal feelings, the aesthetic value and the proficiency being displayed chose these pieces. There will be artwork featured by 122 artists in which case 76 are students.

“Our Arts and Cultural Program is committed to pinpointing our student’s talent and giving them the tools necessary to improve and flourish,”said Rio Hondo’s President/Superintendent Teresa Dreyfuss. “While I am certainly not surprised that five of our students were singled out to showcase their work at this exhibit, I am nonetheless very proud.”
