Rio tax document deadline approaching for students

Each year, colleges and universities are required to send to their students a tax document called the 1098-T.

The 1098-T is a summary of tuition/fees you have been billed by the college during the calendar year and can be used as part of your income tax deduction calculations, if you are eligible.

Rio Hondo College uses an outside service to create and distribute 1098-Ts.

This service is called the Tax Credit Reporting Service for Students (TCRS), which is part of Affiliated Computing Services (ACS).

As part of this service, students not only receive a 1098-T in the mail, but you also have access to 1098-T data and other information related to the 1098-T online.

Questions about your 1098-T can be directed to TCRS at 1-877-467-3821.

Receive your 2013 1098-T form faster and choose the eco-friendly alternative to mailing.

Visit www.1098-t.com and sign up for electronic consent before January 15, 2014 to take advantage of this option.

Students can sign up now to receive the 2013 1098-T form electronically. Through the use of our 1098-T service provider, students can consent to receive e-mail notification when the 2013 1098-T form is available.                                                                                                                         From the 1098-t.com home page, select the option to “Access My Record”. You will be prompted through a series of steps validating personal information.

Once securely logged into your personal account, a link is provided to receive forms electronically.
