The California Association for Post secondary Education and Disability Teacher of the Year Award has a 39 year history.
The award is given to an instructor who recognizes that the education of all students is their responsibility while also meeting the needs of the disabled learner through making use of new innovative instructional techniques and accommodations.
This year’s CAPED Teacher of the Year Award was presented to RHC’s Fitnes Center Coordinator Kathy Pudelko.
Her nomination was based upon a long history of ensuring access and participation for students with disabilities in her physical education classes, as well as her great efforts to maintain a wheelchair accessible path of travel to the Fitness Center and other Physical Education facilities during the lengthy PE facility construction.
Pudelko’s achievements led her to be the first PE instructor to recieve this award in the 39 year history of the Association.
