A ray of hope shines over Rio with job and internship fair

Internships and job openings from different career fields are available and on April 17 professionals in mass Communications, public office officials, healthcare, childcare and law enforcement fields came to Rio Hondo College to provide students with insightful information.

The largest Hispanic network, Univision had enthusiastic representatives ready to explain the internships available for students who are majoring within Mass Communications, promotion marketing and programing. The internship is unpaid college credit with no grade point average required and the hours are flexible. Students interested may contact Cecilia Javita-Mckim via email [email protected]

Congresswoman Linda T. Sanchez training for tomorrow-congressional internship program is available for Summer 2013. Students interested in this particular internship need to submit a few documents, along with the application form, a cover letter, resume and a hardship statement if the student is applying for a paid position. Childcare careers is a full service staffing agency that offers substitute, permanent, full and part-time teacher and teacher’s aide positions in local childcare centers, pre-schools and after school programs. Students who enjoy working with children may apply.

Students will have to undergo fingerprint clearance and have no criminal convictions. Students must also have the ability to communicate in English. Students majoring in Child Development who will like to apply for Teacher Assistants must have completed six units in Child development or Early Childhood Education and have 6 months of experience in a Pre-School facility. Students interested in applying for teacher position must have completed 12 units in Child Development and one year of teaching experience in a Pre-school facility and for permit teachers, students must hold a California State teacher permit.

Students who have completed a two-year college Associate’s Degree and are inclining for a career within health care may consider a job as a radiology technologist, someone who performs diagnostic imaging examinations. The hourly rate is $26. Work may be conducted in hospitals, doctors office and imaging clinics. For more information students may visit the Beverly Hospital website.

Overall it was a well informative day for the Rio Hondo students many didn’t know the fair would be taken place so in between classes they fortunatley stopped by the booths and talked with hopefully their future bosses or co-workers.
