Restaurant Review: Bizarra Capital
For those of you who love Mexican food a gem is located right in the heart of Uptown Whittier. Bizarra Capital offers traditional tasting Mexican food with a twist.
Bizarra Capital is set in a lowkey location with a nice and simple ambience that really has its food speaking for itself. They offer many amazing foods such as ceviche tostadas, quesadillas, tacos, grilled tortas, and otras cosas.
Not to mention there is a full bar that also has some awesome beers on tap. The menu has all the traditional Mexican dishes that you would want to see in a Mexican restaurant. All of the items on the menu are served a la carte but you can’t go wrong with anything you choose! Everything is made fresh to order which you can definitely taste.
Bizarra Capital also has weekly specials such as soft taco Tuesdays where tacos are only $2.99 and there is the $5 margarita Wednesdays. They also have mariachi Friday’s and a Sunday brunch.
Chefs Ricardo Diaz and Armando De La Torre have received numerous awards and have been published in multiple newspapers for their innovative food. In 2013 the LA Times Pulitzer Prize winning food writer, Jonathan Gold included Bizarra Capital on his list of SoCal’s 14 best Mexican restaurants referring to it as a “Mexican-Flavored gastropub.”
Bizarra Capital is a great addition to Whittier. If you’re in the Uptown Whittier area I highly recommend it. The restaurant is located at 12706 Philadelphia St. in Whittier. They are open Tuesday-Saturday 11-10 p.m., and Sunday from 11-7 p.m.
