Students Exercising their Right to Freedom of Religion

The One in Christ Christian Club at Rio Hondo College originated as a Catholic club. Only recently did the club change its structure in which a student from any religious background can come learn about Jesus Christ.

Although the One in Christ Christian Club exists on campus, some students felt the new configuration radically changed their Catholic beliefs.

These students branched away from One in Christ and attempted to start their own Catholic faith centered club.

As of now the five core members are as follows, Jose Espinoza, Jordan Magana, Christian Gutierrez, Joseph Sarmiento, and Alejandra Hernandez.

Due to complications in the process as well as a lack of members, they were not able to successfully establish a Catholic club on campus.

Despite this setback, they still meet every Tuesday at 1:00 pm in front of S200.

They start every meeting with a Rosary prayer and lead into the bible study for the week. The bible study always coincides with the Catholic Church’s weekly study.

Though this unofficial club concentrates on Catholic beliefs, they encourage students of all religious beliefs to join.

Anyone interested in learning more about Catholicism and the Catholic Church are more than welcome enter.

For more information on the Catholic Students of Rio Hondo, please contact the unofficial representative, Jose Espinoza at (323) 667-5189.
