Let Alondra’s Hotwings bring out the heat

In Downtown Montebello, there is a small restaurant that has people talking nonstop about their celebrated wings, eccentric entrees, and mobster theme called Alondra Hot Wings. The praiseworthy restaurant has become popular throughout SoCal these past years ranking as the top rated restaurant of 2012 by Restaurant.com.

The high rated restaurant provides chicken wing platters that can range from 6-50 pieces with different flavors ranging from teriyaki, honey BBQ, maple syrup, Thai chili, flaming lime, x-hot, and for the daring, atomic sauce known as the spiciest sauce in town. It’s so hot that a waiver must be signed as an agreement to eat at your own risk.

I decided to go with what the joint is famous for: hot wings.

I ordered the 6 piece hot wing combo that comes with French fries and carrot sticks. The wings and drumsticks were showered in hot sauce, the contributing factor to its spiciness.

The wings were hot, but manageable to eat. The hot wings were deep fried making them crunchy from the outside, but soft on the inside.

The French fries were soft with a twist. The fries were sprinkled with salt and oregano, giving them a salty and herb flavored touch. As for the carrots, they were served with lemon giving them a citric flavor.

People wanting a plate with spice, citric, and herb flavors, then the Hot wing platter is the plate to choose. Overall, the platter was simple, yet satisfying.

If wings are too common, there are different types of platters with a certain kick to add variety. There are south western salads that come with steak, butterfly shrimp, and chicken.

There are also gigantic burgers which include beacon, provolone cheese, avocado, and 1000 Island dressing. For chili lovers, there’s the Ellis Island burger made of angus beef, bacon, cheddar, tomato, onions, lettuce, and 1000 island drenched with chili and cheese.

There’s even finger food such as fried pickles, zucchini, onion chips, garlic, ranch, and seasoned fries. To accompany those appetizers, there are butterfly shrimp, buffalo strips, and cheese balls.

The hot wing restaurant is also known for their nachos with chili, tomato, avocado, ground beef, and southwest dressing.

For those more interested in a deli choice, there are both turkey, chicken, steak caesar salad, and buffalo strip sandwiches and guests interested in different meal options, Alondra Hot Wings serves meatball subs that brings an Italian meal vibe.

An unusual pasta platter choice is the chili cheese pasta that has fettuccine pasta with chili and cheddar cheese.

For a more formal platter, customers should get the Siciliano pasta that contains parsley, dried tomatoes in olive oil with fettuccine noodles.

To end a delectable meal, Alondra Hot wings provides sweet delights including fried Twinkies, cinnamon balls made of dough, New York Cheese cake, and chocolate cake.

If interested in dining at Alondra Hot Wings for popular food favorites with a flavor alterative to them, consider visiting the Montebello stop at 616 W. Whittier Blvd.
