Ty Dolla $ign delivers bangers and R&B on ‘Free TC’
Ty Dolla $ign has finally released his first full-length album “Free TC”, saying full due to the fact that Ty dropped half of the tracks off his album on his Soundcloud page over the last few months.
Despite previewing a few songs for fans, the album composes of 16 tracks that show off Ty’s diverse styles.
Ty begins the album with a track entitled “L.A.”, a song about finding strength and comfort in South Los Angeles while also trying to escape from it and paying homage to the city as well. The track is also balanced out with features from rapper Kendrick Lamar and singer; Brandy and James Fauntleroy.
With a smooth track like “L.A.”, it makes sense to assume that the theme behind “Free TC” goes in depth with Ty’s struggle of living in L.A. and trying to find hope. However, on the next track “Saved” featuring E-40, Ty goes back to what he does best.
With DJ Mustard on the beat, Ty brings forth his signature club style that instantly prompts listeners that it’s going to be a party song. Ty, however switches up his style through each track such as in “Horses in The Stable” where he goes back to his R&B “seductive style”, while sounding like gangsta cowboy and having the same style in “Actress” with R. Kelly.
Most fans of Ty Dolla aren’t really looking for the R&B “simp” tracks as they want the Ty Dolla club bangers that he has brought to the radio over the past two years.
He delivers with bangers on the track “Sitting Pretty” featuring his Taylor Gang label mate Wiz Khalifa, and having both a banger/sex anthem in “When I See Ya” that includes a solid verse by Fetty Wap.
Of course there’s no leaving out the one song that stands out the most on “Free TC”. “Blasé”, arguably the best track on the album features Future on the hook and Rae Sremmurd with a verse, has been on radio stations non-stop and is the perfect song to play at a party to “turn up”.
Overall, Ty Dolla $ign does well on his first studio album and lives up to the much anticipated release of the album that circulated all year. “Free TC” is a nice project with the perfect balance of rap bangers and R&B tracks.
