ABC’s “The Whispers” shocks with imaginary friend

Parents hide your children because ABC network just released their first promotional poster for the new summer TV show, “The Whispers.”

The posters, conveniently located everywhere, show a little girl in the dark whispering to something glowing in her hand. The caption reads, “Not all imaginary friends are imaginary.”

The show takes place in the city of Washington, D.C., where there have been several reports of children talking and playing with their imaginary friend, Dill.

At first the parents believe it is the active minds of their children until Dill posed as a threat, telling children to play a game by doing something horribly wrong.

FBI Child Specialist Claire Bennigan (American Horror Story) is on the quest to investigate this mystery that will be difficult to uncover due to the fact that Dill makes his presence noticed with only children.

This TV series could possibly be similar to the movie, “Sinister” about a demonic entity possessing children into murdering their whole family.

Although the movie does have heavily disturbing and graphic sequences, the two promo clips of “The Whispers” (posted on abc.com), hint of  a suspenseful show with some scare factor scenes in the mix with FBI investigations alike “The X-Files.”

To top it off, there is a great cast and crew who have the potential to make this TV series gain a wow factor.

The cast is consisted of well-known actors who attain a background in the suspense/horror area: Lily Rabe (American Horror Story), Barry Sloane (Revenge), Milo Ventimiglia (Gotham), and Kristen Connolly (Cabin in the Woods); plus, executive producer Steven Spielberg who has a successful career in the filming industry as well such as “Under the Dome,” “The Goonies,” and “A.I. Artificial Intelligence.”

Alongside with talented writers, cast, and crew, this show has the capability to be a surprise summer hit!

Anyone interested in a psychological, supernatural thriller watch the premiere of “The Whispers” on June 1 at 10/9c on ABC network.
