Theatre Fall production ‘Out of the Frying Pan’ in progress

This year’s Rio Hondo Theatre Department annual Fall production will be the hilarious farce, “Out of the Frying Pan.”

Directed by course instructor Bill Korf, the Theatre 170 students make up the cast and have been rehearsing heavily for the past several weeks.

Theatre student and aspiring actress Zoe Lemos, 22, has been an avid participant in productions since Spring of 2011.

Her role in “Out of the Frying pan” is significant to her because taking on the role will be “another new challenge” that she will learn much from.

Based in the forties, RHC’s “Out of the Frying Pan” production requires extravagant costume attire and a set of old accents to correlate with the theme.

“I’m really excited to wear the attire,” said Lemos when asked about the costume opportunities. “I’ll pretty much wear anything that they want to dress me in, ridiculous or not.”

With two relatives that are cops, Lemos says that she is interested to step into their shoes.

Lemos added, “Even though that I’ve known that I want to do this for a long time, Rio’s theatre has shown me that I want to do this for a lifetime. I’m so blessed to be able to work with all of my peers. They help me and they make me grow as an actress as well.”

This production will be quite different from the last several semester shows, which consisted of devised theatre, minimal set productions, dramas, and more.

Don’t miss the opportunity to catch the hilarious show filled with a talented cast of aspiring students and a script that will keep you amused throughout the show.

The stagings will take place in the Campus Inn Theatre Dec. 5-8. Thursday-Saturday will be an 8 p.m. showing and Sunday will be a matinee at 2 p.m.
