Acura Grand Prix 2022
Thousands of spectators flooded the streets of Long Beach, Calif. to attend this year’s Acura Grand Prix April 8-10, 2022. The three-day event couldn’t have been more perfect; warm weather and the smell of burning tires filled the air. With main events including the INDYCAR SERIES, Porsche Carrera Cup, Stadium Super Truck Series and Formula Drift. The weekend also included live music, a beer garden, vendors and enough to eat that a food coma would last a lifetime.
With such steep competition all weekend, it was sure that only one driver could be the champion. With temperatures hitting over 130 degrees on the track surface, the competition was surely heating up.
In a fierce race for the INDYCAR SERIES, Josef Newgarden came up on top and took the win for the second consecutive time and remains undefeated in 2022. Van Berlo swept the streets of Long Beach as he won both races in the Porsche Carrera Cup on Saturday and Sunday. Another driver who scored a double victory this weekend was Forrest Wang driving in the Yellow Speed Racing Nissan S15 for the Formula Drift race. Lastly, in a father and son matchup for the Stadium Super Truck series, Robby Gordon, founder of SST and ex-Nascar driver took the win in Sunday’s race. Not too far behind was his 13-year-old son, “Mad” Max Gordon who placed first in Saturday’s race and third on Sunday.
