Roadrunners drop crucial game against Mt. Sac.

#6 Ashley Bravo makes contact with a fastball in Friday’s game against Mt. Sac.

Women’s Softball loses game 3 against Mt. San Antonio College with a final score of 4-1, making it a sweep for the Mounties against Rio Hondo.

Friday’s game started off strong for the Roadrunners. Nadia Landeros grounded out to second base but it scored a Rio Hondo’s one and only run in the first inning.

After that, Mt. Sac dominated. The Mounties had 9 hits against Clarissa Evangelista, who pitched six innings and gave up four runs. It wasn’t the start Evangelista wanted, but on the bright side, she pitched four shutout innings to start the game.

As for the opposing pitcher, Mirannda Rodriquez showed dominance in the circle pitching seven innings with three hits, one earned run, one walk, and seven strikeouts. The Roadrunners had opportunities to drive in more runs, but with runners on base, they couldn’t produce.

Rio Hondo’s rare home loss makes it their second loss at home this season. Games on the road is the weakness of this team with a record of 3-11. The good news is that they have six home games in a row coming up. Rio Hondo will need to have a huge run to climb up the South Coast Conference standings and have a chance to compete with the big dogs of Mt. Sac and Long beach.

Tuesday, the Roadrunners have a double header against Pasadena City College starting at 1:00 pm and game two starting at 3:00 pm. After that, Thursday brings a huge game against Long Beach at home.
