South Hills Softball keeps their foot on gas towards the CIF Playoffs
The sky’s the limit for the 2021/ 2022 South Hills High School Varsity Softball team as they dominated the regular season and clinched their spot in the CIF division ll playoffs. Overall, under Coach Ralph Navarro and his coaching staff, this program had an outstanding record of 24-3 and an undefeated league record of 11-0 to capture the 2022 Hacienda League title.
In addition, their last game of the season vs. Los Altos for an undefeated league record was victorious. As a result, the final score was 6-2 with South Hills controlling the entire game by their pitchers and defense but, every inning the heavy hitters of South Hills would at least score one run.
Furthermore, the roster is a unique one because it consists of nine underclassmen and ten seniors which can hit pretty consistently from top to bottom of the lineup. Above all, South Hills Softball had a wide range of games on their schedule and out of the 27 game schedule the Huskies had eight mercy rule victories this season.
Since Coach Ralph Navarro took over the Softball Program in the 2020, the Huskies have a combined regular season record of 43 wins and 10 losses and a combined league record of 19 wins and 2 losses in two full seasons with South Hills .
Consequently, the CIF softball playoffs could come down to one or two run games and costly mistakes. Therefore South Hills could prevail in their first round game as they take on West Ranch High on May 5 at Huskie Field at 3:15pm . At the conclusion of the playoffs we will see if the South Hills Softball program can put a cherry on top of their marvelous season of achievements in this five round process of high and lows.
