SOFTBALL’S FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH
The advantage of having an all freshman team is totally unknown for any program but, as of right now this year’s softball program have an overall record of 9-5 , conference record of 3-5, home record of 3-3, an away record of 6-2, and a current two game losing streak. Furthermore, the softball program is currently in sixth place and four games back of Mt. Sac for the top spot in the SCC standings.
Nevertheless, here are the three out of eight conference victories for the roadrunners: vs. Pasadena City College, LA Harbor, and East LA.
Rio Hondo Softball’s most recent conference games were away games vs. Cerritos on Tuesday, March 1st as they were by a score of 8-3. Thereafter, they had a bad defeat on Thursday, March 3 vs. Long Beach with a score of 5-1 with only one run scored through seven innings. Freshman Standout #4 Infielder Heaven Wolf (on the challenges of being a freshman team)
“Even though we are freshmen I feel like we come from a diverse background, so putting us all together is making us a good team. Also, I absolutely think other teams should take us seriously from the gecko.”
Wolf has been terrific from the start of the season by leading the team in five different categories.
