All Star Weekend Events Contestants Revealed
Whenever there is an all star game in the NBA there are always other contests that go with it. For example, there are the skills challenge, the three point contest and the dunk contest. These contests are a staple in the all star weekend. Specifically due to the excitement it brings to the fans with all the flashy plays that can happen. With that in mind, all star weekend is on March 7th and the events start at 6:30 p.m. on TNT.
Taco Bell Skills Challenge
The skills challenge puts players through an obstacle course that involves dribbling, passing and shooting. Therefore whoever finishes first will be advanced. This skills challenge will feature players like Chris Paul, Luka Doncic and Julius Randle. Additionally the skills challenge always has a guard go against a big man leading to a one on one final. Whoever wins that will be named the champion of the skills challenge.
Mountain Dew Three Point Contest
The three point contest has players shoot three pointers from the five main spots on the court. The corners, the wings and the top of the key. Each spot has five shots each ball worth one point and the last shot of the spot worth two points. In addition, the NBA recently added a money ball rack which means the players get to choose one spot that has all money balls which are worth two points. This year’s three point contest will feature players like Stephen Curry, Jayson Tatum and Devin Booker. Both Curry and Booker have already won this contest before so they look to bring another one home this year.
AT&T Slam Dunk Contest
Lastly there will be the dunk contest, which is everybody’s favorite due to that wow factor. Although this is a fan favorite it will be done a little differently this year. Therefore instead of the contest being before the all star game it will be during halftime of the game. In addition there will only be three players competing this year. The three players will be Obi Toppin, Anfernee Simons, and Cassius Stanley. Simons being the only one of the three that is not a rookie so there might be less pressure on him to perform. Stanley, a rookie for the Indiana Pacers had one of the highest vertical in the rookie class and has high expectations going into the contest. Lastly Toppin, the tallest of the three at 6’9 and was a lottery pick in the draft. Therefore a lot of eyes will be on him. There will be 5 judes rating their dunks out of 10 in two rounds. Whoever scores the most will be the champion.
