Religion vs. The Bible
When asked “What do you believe?” most people don’t know what to say. They know they enjoy life, family, friends, good times, peacefulness and mostly love, but where does all that come from? and what happens after?
First of all I would like to state that I don’t believe it is right for one human to judge another because of their beliefs. Secondly, I do not believe in religion, I never have and I never will, but I do believe in the bible.
“How is this possible?”
I would like to share with you what I discovered this year, and what I believe to be true.
Sometime during February 2013 (as noted down in my Christian planner), at 20-years old, I hit an all time low, both emotionally and spiritually. I thought I had the better part of my life planned out and everything I was hoping for crumbled before my eyes.
With no one else to turn to I had a strange urge to look for answers in the bible, which I had never read on my own. I started reading through the book of Proverbs, and the sheer amount of wisdom I began obtaining was unbelievable.
It gave me immediate peace, and the information to live sharing peace with others. It confirmed everything I truly believed about morality, and helped me to rid myself of negativity.
Religion, to me, means any kind of man-made tradition or ritualistic practice that can get someone closer to God. Although religion can be helpful, humanity has a way of using things for evil, and religion is no exception.
I can honestly see why many people are turned away from the bible, because there is some fool waving it around condemning others for not believing it.
If they only knew that the bible itself speaks out against that. It does not say to condemn others, it says to love others, love everyone more than you do yourself.
If people only did this, our world would not be so filled with hate.
The bible is about a personal relationship. It is about an all-powerful, all knowing God who so artfully designed and crafted the entire universe, all for these little people living on earth, including you. Life is an opportunity.
The world was supposed to be perfect, but humans had a choice, to be selfless, or selfish. We chose selfishness, which is the real root of all evil.
I believe God himself died on the cross for every single sin that humanity has ever committed. When you read the bible, God himself will make promises to you, the most important one being that if you accept his gift of Jesus who paid for all of our sins, then we will spend eternity in a perfect reality called heaven.
The bible is the best-selling most printed text in the history of the world, having been translated into over 2,000 languages. It is actually a a compilation of 66 books, written by over 40 different authors, over the course of about 1,500 years from around 1450 B.C. to about 100 A.D.
The authors came from all different walks of life such as shepherds, philosophers, fisherman, and even kings, yet this collection of texts is completely unified and cohesive. It is the only “religious text” that actually has fulfilled prophecies, scientific facts, and has been historically and archeologically confirmed. It must be God’s inspired message to his children, us.
