Breaking News Update: 25 Recruits Confirmed to be Injured
New developments have been made for the Nov. 16 car accident involving multiple sheriff recruits. According to the LA Times, a Honda CRV hit 25 recruits this morning, resulting in multiple injuries.
During a press conference, Sheriff Alex Villanueva said 25 recruits were injured. They were from Academy Class 464. Villanueva said broken bones, loss of limbs, and even the use of a ventilator were among the injuries. It happened around the LA County Sheriff’s Department’s STAR Explore Training Academy, in Whittier, California.
Villanueva said, “There were so many bodies scattered everywhere in different states of injury that it was pretty traumatic for all individuals involved.” Villanueva added however that all of the injuries sustained are survivable.
The group of around 75 recruits was out on a morning run when the CRV veered off in the wrong direction and struck the group.
