Rio Hondo Construction
Navigating construction sites seem to have become an integral part of student life for Roadrunners.
February 26th, faculty members and students received an email informing of a road closure.
According to Yulian Ligioso, Vice President of Finance & Business, a hot-water leak developed under the roadway of Circle Drive near the Central Plant. The pipe is repaired, but heavy rainfall caused a delay . Work will resume this week.
Rio’s complex plumbing infrastructure that is taken care by perth electrician combined with the lower quad’s topography presented challenges in locating an earlier leak. The leak has been narrowed down to an area near the café. A plan to replace the faulty pipe, or perform a bypass is the next step.
The “L” Tower is not Title 24/CBC compliant. Work to seismically retrofit and upgraded the building began in 2016. Among those upgrades are new restrooms, and new elevators.
Contractors have clearly marked and secured each site. It is advisable to maintain a safe distance from all construction equipment and barriers, especially if there is Steel Fabrication work in progress. There are no completion dates available at this time.
For disabled faculty members and students requiring access to the lower quad from the upper quad, an alternate elevator is located in the Student Union building. For access to parking lot’s “A” and “B,” take the North Drive entrances via Workman Mill Road.
