Writers’ Resource Center open for appointments
The Writers’ Resource Center for spring semester 2016 is now officially available for appointments.
The center is a free English writing facility that helps students on their writing skills by having one-to-one writing assistance with staff members.
The WRC specializes in helping students with writing assignments, researching skills, scholarship essays, personal statements, and bibliographies.
Furthermore, they help with pre-writing, crafting, and course revision. Staff will assist students on brainstorming, outlining, organizing, creating thesis statements, evaluating and issuing research, creating bibliographies, and revising work.
It should be noted that staff will not write or edit students work, but will direct students to proper grammar usage and how to make their work stronger.
Students are advised to come prepared with any materials needed to their appointment so that staff members are aware of the assignment.
With approximately 20 staff members donating their time to help students it seems that the work they put into helping students has become a great success. In fall 2015 a reported 94% of the 96 students surveyed stated that their writing goal for the WRC was met during the time of their conferences and 99% of them found the department to be useful in their school work.
The department is located in LR 126A next to the English Lab, located in the same building as the library. The WRC opened a year ago and has served hundreds of students with their writing.
The WRC is opened Mondays and Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m..
Appointments can be made in room LR 126B, via email at [email protected], or by calling 562-463-3122. Walk-ins are limited but available for students who need assistance with writing assignments.
