Surely the community college students of Rio Hondo must have noticed the many booths posted up in the lower quad by now.
They’re college representatives here to assist us in transferring to a four year university of your choice. Many colleges are present, including The University of La Verne and The Art Institute, and they’re all ready to meet you needs and answer any and all questions you may have.
I’m here to tell you where you can find more help, whether you’re still struggling or missed the transit fair altogether. This includes a website and Rio Hondo’s very own business counselor.
The website, Assist.Org, an online student-transfer information system that shows how course credits earned at one public California college or university can be applied when transferred to another. Here is their mission statement: “Our mission is to facilitate the transfer of California Community College students to California’s public four-year universities by providing an electronic system for academic planning which delivers accurate, timely, and complete information and operates as the official repository of articulation information for the state of California.” It’s a helpful resource so go check it out!
Of course there’s always the alternative face-to-face consulting from our very own Nahrin Hinaro, part of the business divisions office. She is located at B-100J on Mondays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can contact her by e-mail at [email protected] or by phone at (562) 463-7940. Mrs. Hinaro can give you general college counseling advice on various subjects including education plans, program information, graduation criteria, vocational placement options, and more. All in all, if you have ANY remaining questions or concerns relating to college transfers, she’s the one to talk to.
