May the Fourth be with you
Star Wars day became a staple in pop culture on May 4th, simply because of the famous pun, “May the 4th be with you.” The pun, which is a play on words for the easily recognizable saying in Star Wars, “May the Force be with you.”
Rio Hondo students held the annual Star Wars Spirit Day in the student union on Thursday to celebrate everything Star Wars.
The event allowed students to wear their favorite star wars gear or dress up as their favorite character. Students also had the opportunity to win prizes in an opportunity drawing.
In recent years, Star Wars day brings in new content in the Star Wars universe, from video games, to movies, even new Disney Plus TV shows. In celebration of May the 4th, Disney+ is premiering Star Wars Visions Volume 2, a collection of short episodes by anime creators and storytellers who put their own spin on the galaxy. Electronic Arts also released the sequel to “Jedi: Fallen Order” called “Jedi: Survivor.
Disneyland also celebrated the holiday by hosting Star Wars Night that included a firework show, character experiences, a galactic dance party, and after hour access to attractions around the park.
As for the event at Rio Hondo, it was a success. Students came in their best Star Wars gear to celebrate May 4th.
