Transfer Center: A Student’s Road to Success
While many students attend community college, most have the same goal; to transfer to a four-year university. Rio Hondo College offers services in the Transfer Center for students transfering to a four-year university. The Transfer Center provides counseling, one on one, to class presentations. They help with finding a college that fits best to prepare for the future.
The numbers of students transferring to Cal States and UC’s increases every school year. Jose Lara, who is the coordinator counselor of the transfer center, helped various students fulfill their dream of attending a four-year university. He also attended Cal State LA and received his major in Business, giving him the experience needed to guide students.
There are many counselors who provide excellent services to all of their students. Not only do counselors help studnets submit university applications, they help with personal essays, and have college representatives visit to help with the admission process.
The most popular Cal State students have chosen for transfer is Cal State Los Angeles. Followed by Cal Poly Pomona and CSU Long Beach. The most difficult for students to transfer to are CSU Bakersfield, CSU Monterey Bay, and CSU Chico.
The most common major students are persuing is Business Administration, Sociology, and Psychology. While the least common major students have had while transferring; Child development, Criminal Justice, and Accounting.
The past school year the most popular universities enrolled last fall are UC Berkeley, UC Davis, and UC Irvine. The Transfer Center has provided much help to all students and improve their chances for a better future. They give all students the information and tools they need to prepare for transfer and complete their higher education.
