The show is trying to tie all the knots to the end of this story. That being said this will be an analysis of the first episode. SPOILERS AHEAD, for anyone who is not caught up.
Intro
We start the episode with a brand new intro sequence, which starts off at the wall being decimated by the white walkers. The intro then shows the snow covered plains to remind that winter is most certainly here. Throughout the intro we get all new looks of Winterfell as it goes through the castle and even the crypts. Then we get to kings landing showing the Qyburn ballista and Dragons head. It all ends on a shot of the iron throne rising sword by sword, empty and ready for the taking.
Winterfell
Many of the characters we know and love in a march towards Winterfell. Also in the crowd watching we see Arya Stark finally seeing The Hound still alive. We also see her brother Jon with the new queen Daenrys. While of course the huge Unsullied army marches by which comes with the two dragons that are still with us. Jon Snow is then reunited with Bran and Arya. Going later to the throne room disputes happen as Jon tries to explain himself on why he bent the Knee to Daenrys. Many of the townfolks and Sansa are not a fan of this in particular.
Kingslanding
We finally see a glimpse of the many ships and mercenaries of the Golden Company. Brought by Euron Greyjoy as he is gifted with his award by none other then Cersei herself. To get her back in a good mood she goes and hires Bronn to kill her brothers Jamie and Tyrion two of his good friends. While Theon get into action as he saves his sister and decides to head back to Winterfell to help in the fighting cause.
Important Events/Ending
Jon Snow gets his first Dragon Ride which is a pushing factor in him being convinced he is actually a Targaryen. Daenerys and Jorah visit Sam to thank and reward him. Which it is then revealed that Daenarys in fact killed his father and brother. Sam would then go on to tell Jon this and reveal that he is the true air to the throne. We also get some white walker action as we see that they decimated a whole village leaving nothing but a sign they made from the corpses of the dead. The episode wraps up nicely with a cliffhanger as we see Bran looking directly at Jamie the man who crippled him.
