Secret is Out
Thirty-three year old British actor, Rahul Kohli, post on twitter that he was a victim of childhood sexual abuse on Monday morning. The actor stars in The CW’s iZombie revealed his traumatic secret on social media. Kohli said, “The longer I keep my secret, the longer I feel like I’m protecting someone who doesn’t deserve it and letting down others who are too afraid to step forward and confront their own past.” He ended his tweet by simply delivering a message to the others: “We are not alone and we are not to blame.” Kohli was born in London with a mother who is from Thailand and a father from Kenya. He also has a sister and said that even though his parents were not financially stable, they told them that they will show them the world. Kohli got the chance to travel to Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and around Europe. Kohli got into becoming an actor due to all the plays he had participated in school.
Support From the Web
After posting that tweet, Kohli has been receiving nothing but supports from people online including from Supergirl actor Mehcad Brooks. Brooks replied to Kohli’s post and said, “Love you brother. You have my support and thank you so much for your strength and bravery. Not only is it inspiring, but you are also going to awaken those that may be in the unnecessary shadows about this.” After receiving a lot of support, Kohli took to Instagram to thank everyone for the positive note. He later proceeded, “I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the messages of support today. I haven’t processed everything right now it’s been kind of a secret for 25 years.”
You Are Not Alone
Kohli decides to tell his secret that he has been hiding for years. He hopes that his story will encourage others to stop hurting in silence and come forward. Kohli said, “I was hoping by coming forward and being more open and honest about what I went through in some way that might help someone who is still in the dark, still in isolation cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel. You can get out on the other side.” Additionally, Kohli’s speech touched a little in the interview. If anyone is in this kind of position, it is always better to tell someone than to not saying anything.
