Solange’s New Album ‘When I Get Home’ Gives The Vibes we Need for 2019
‘When I Get Home’ is out and filling us with a Houston experience and embedded soul.
Solange Knowles was dropping hints about the album on the social media platform Black Planet, which was once the largest Black online community. Images and videos depicting the southern black life on the platform hinted that the R&B singer was about to release a new album. Now that it’s finally here, everyone feels blessed with the amount of soul in this album.
When I Get Home takes listeners on an exploration of roots in Solange’s childhood. Where it all began, in Houston. Bringing this to life with the help of collaborators such as Tyler, The Creator, Cassie, The Dream, Gucci Mane and samples from the works of under-heralded H-town legends and more.
Fans feel elevated by the 19 track album stirred with R&B, funk, Zydeco, and blues. Thanks to Solange, twitter is saying she saved Black History Month and it’s not over yet.
“There is a lot of Jazz at the core,” Solange told Teen Vogue. “But with electronic hip-hop drum and bass because I want it to bang and make your trunk rattle.”
When I Get Home is a soothing addition to 2019’s R&B and everyone is sitting back and gently consuming. The full Album is available to listen now.
