John Wick Director to direct Sandman Slim movie
Chad Stahelski, director of the John Wick films and Ex-stuntman, has been selected to direct another film franchise. Stahelski has been chosen to direct Sandman Slim, a film adaptation based on NYT bestselling author Richard Kadrey nine-book fantasy series. Studio 8 acquired the rights back in 2016 for Sandman Slim with the hopes that the series could launch a potential franchise. Deadline has reported that Stahelski has been picked to direct Sandman Slim which will likely turn into a franchise if the first film is successful. Before directing Sandman Slim, he will direct the third installment of Lionsgate’s Keanu Reeves John Wick which is repped by WME and Tara Kole of Gang, Tyre. Sandman Slim will be written by Kerry Williamson, who recently co-wrote the amazing Netflix film, What Happened to Monday.
Chad Stahelski first began his stunting career in the famous films The Matrix and The Crow. His work began as co-director on the famous installment John Wick, along with David Leitch who has been chosen to direct Deadpool 2 the sequel to the 2016 film. Chad Stahelski also spend some time as a second unit director on films like The Hunger Games and After Earth before directing his own project John Wick. Stahelski first began his solo directing role for John Wick: Chapter Two and has been renewed to direct John Wick: Chapter Three. Stahelski is also set to return for Lionsgate’s third John Wick movie, which is scheduled to arrive on May 17, 2019. Stahelski who directed the John Wick installments has grossed about $260 million worldwide. Chad Stahelski has also been chosen to direct the John Wick TV Series, The Continental. He has also been attached to a feature adaptation of the comic series Kill or Be Killed and a remake of the 80’s action series, Highlander.
The movie Sandman Slim is based on the fantasy series by Richard Kadrey which tells the story of James “Sandman Slim” Stark, a half-human/half-angel magician who returns from hell to exact revenge on the people who sent him there. During the next 11 years later, after fighting demons non-stop, he escapes and becomes a supernatural vigilante determined to get revenge for his murdered lover. Kadrey’s novel series has been translated into ten languages and is listed in Barnes and Noble’s “Best Paranormal Fantasy Novels of the Last Decade”. The tenth book will be published this year by Harper Voyager.
