IT’S TIME FOR US TO END SPECIESISM

& how to overcome it

Speciesism results in the belief that humans have the right to use non human animals which scholars say is pervasive in modern society. Philosophers and animal rights advocates state that speciesism plays a role in the animal industrial complex… including in the practice of factory farming, animal slaughter, blood sports (such as bull fighting and rodeos). The taking of animals fur, skin and conduction animal experiments, as well as the refusal to help animal suffering in the wild, due to natural processes and the categorization of certain animals as invasive, then killing them based on that classification.

As humans love dogs and cats but farm animals such as cows, pigs and chickens are all seen as objects to be turned into food. This is one of the most pervasive forms of speciesism. Farm animals raised for food live sad lives. They are born and raised in dark warehouses that you wouldn’t even recognize as a farm. These animals can’t breathe fresh air and they are oftenly fed unhealthy cheap food that we eventually eat. It’s hard to comprehend how horrible slaughter houses are without visiting one. To make the most profit by killing and disassembling animals. Many of these animals end up being conscious through most of the process.

How you can make a difference

Realizing that every animal has the right to survive without being exploited by humans and the ways they are views by society. Is the first step toward rejecting speciesism and acting honorably and consistently toward all living things.  First, we must acknowledge that all animals have the right to exist without being exploited by humans. Only then can we reject speciesism and treat all living things with honesty and consistency.

By raising awareness of the suffering of other species and refraining from using disparaging language, adopting a plant-based diet and banning animal products can help fight speciesism. We can choose household and personal care products free of animal testing. Donate exclusively to health organizations that do not fund or use animal experimentation. Stay away from both land-based and marine circuses that use animals as living props. Dogs and pigs, both animals feel joy, fear, and pain… So why do we love one but eat the other?
