Dodgers Regain World Series Lead in Game 5

Clayton Kershaw would make his 5th start this post season hoping to lead the Dodgers to a victory. Kershaw the past 4 games has a 3 – 1 record, a 2.88 ERA and striking out 31 batters. Tyler Glasow would also seek a victory, as he would try to put the Rays on top in the series. Glanow only pitching 4 â…“ innings in the post season thus far. Glasnow before the game only gave up 3 hits, 6 runs, as well as walking 6 and striking out 8 batters. Could the young right-hander seek his first postseason win?

The Dodgers would be given the chance to strike first in the game, and they did not waste no time. Corey Segar collected his 19th RBI in the postseason, bringing in Mookie Betts from 2nd base. Later in the inning, Cody Bellinger hits a single to second baseman Brandon Lowe as Segar scores, increasing the lead 2 – 0. Next inning, Joc Pederson hit a home run to center field making it a 3 run game.

Fast forward to the bottom of the 3rd, Yandy Diaz tripled as Kevin Kiermarer scored to put the Rays on the board. Later on, Randy Arozarena singles to center to bring in Diaz to make it a 1 run game. However, with only one out and one man on, Kershaw strikes out Lowe as Austin Barns picks off Arozarena for a double play. Kershaw got out of the jam with the help from the terrific Dodgers defense.

Top of the fifth, Muncy with 2 outs homered to right to increase the score by 2 runs. After 5 innings, that would be it for Tyler Glasnow. Glasnow gave up 6 hits, 4 runs, and struck out 7 batters. However for the Dodgers starter, Kershaw would pitch 5.2 innings giving up 5 hits, 2 runs and striking out 6 batters. Kershaw after today’s game has won 2 games in a single series for the first time in his career. He now has the most strikeouts in MLB postseason history passing Justin Verlander.

It would be a bullen game after, as May would finish the 6th inning for Kershaw. The Rays bullen pitched a combined 3.3 innings giving up no runs, 2 walks and striking out 1. As for the Dodgers bullpen, they pitched a combined 2.4 innings giving up 2 hits, 1 walk and 4 strikeouts.

Dodgers would claim victory as well as leading the series 3 – 2 with only 1 more win to be crowned champions. Despite the victory, do they have what it takes to finish the job on Tuesday night for game 6?
