Women’s Soccer

Much like the men’s team, the Women’s Soccer squad tied against Orange Coast College on Wednesday 1-1 taking their record to 1-1-1 after starting the season with a win 2-1 against San Diego Mesa and a 3-1 loss to Diablo Valley College last week.

The Lady Roadrunners defeated Fullerton on Friday with a score of 1-0. Next for women’s soccer is a showdown with Ventura Sept. 15 which will be their fifth and final away game to start the season.

On Sept. 22 the women’s team will have their home opener by welcoming Santa Monica to The Hondo at 2 pm.

Women’s Volleyball

After a rocky 1-5 start to the year, the Women’s Volleyball team had gone 3-1 in their last four games bringing their record to 3-5 in eight matches.

Victories against Glendale, Fullerton, and, most recently, Antelope Valley have shown signs of optimism for the Lady Roadrunners when things started off looking to be difficult for head coach Teddi Esko.

Losses to LA Pierce, Bakersfield, Golden West, Pasadena City, and Desert to start the year have now been answered positively despite two losses on Friday to Antelope Valley and Saddleback.

The next home game is on Sept. 13 against San Diego City at the Rio Hondo gym with a 5 pm start time.

Men’s Water Polo

The men’s water polo team continues their season this weekend at the Citrus College Tournament with games against the Owls, Santa Monica, and a team yet to be determined.

The Roadrunners began their season on Saturday with a win and a loss at Miramar College against the Jets (W, 17-5) and Grossmont College (L, 16-6) and roll into the Citrus Tournament looking to establish momentum going into their conference opener on Sept. 13 against Chaffey College at The Hondo (4:30 start time).

Women’s Water Polo

The Women’s Water Polo team will also participate at a tournament this weekend at Saddleback College.

It will signal the start of their season with a game against the Gauchos and two other opponents yet to be determined. The Lady Roadrunners look to begin their season on the right foot at the Saddleback Tournament as they head into conference play next week.

Wrestling
