All English Champions League Final

Third Ever All English Final

For the first time since Liverpool and Tothenham faced each other in the 2019 Champions League Final, there will be another all English Final. Manchester City will go head to head against Chelsea on May 29 Istanbul Turkey.

Manchester City have just won their third Premier League Title under Pep Guardiola as of time of writing. As for Chelsea, they have completely turned their season around since appointing Thomas Tuchel as their head coach. Besides the Champions League Final, Chelsea also have the Fa Cup to prepare for as well. Chelsea will face Leicester City on May 15 at Wembley Stadium for the Fa Cup Final.

Pep Guardiola Vs Thomas Tuchel

The Champions League has always been a trophy that Pep Guardiola has had trouble with winning since leaving Barcelona in 2011. Since leaving Barcelona, Pep Guardiola has failed to reach the Champions League Final in 10 consecutive years. Although Guardiola has only participated in two Champions League Finals, he has won both of them. As for Thomas Tuchel, this is only his second ever Champions League Final. However, he has lost his one and only appearance before this one. Thomas Tuchel reached last year’s final with PSG as they lost to Bayern Munich. This will make Thomas Tuchel the first manager in history to reach back to back Champions League FInals with two different clubs.

Manchester City and Chelsea’s Slow Start

Both Chelsea and Manchester City had a slow start to the season. Manchester City looked unlikely to win the Premier League title this year. However, they were able to turn their season around, with star performances from Ilkay Goundogan, Riyad Mahrez, and Phil Foden. Chelsea arguably had a worse start than Manchester City. Chelsea sacked their coach Frank Lampard midway through the season, and since Thomas Tuchel has arrived in the club, they are aiming for a place in the top 4 in the Premier League. This was something that seemed unlikely under Frank Lampard.

This Champions League final is the first in Manchester City’s history and the third in Chelsea’s history. Both Pep Guardiola and Thomas Tuchel will be desperately wanting to get their hands on the Champions League Final. Manchester City look to become only the second ever treble winners, after Manchester United. And as for Chelsea, they will look to make it a double with a win in the Fa Cup Final and Champions League Final.
