Lakers Win Their 5th Straight in San Antonio

Recap

The Los Angeles Lakers ended their mini Texas road trip with a win against the Spurs. Before having their way in San Antonio, the team had to barely escape a tough Mavericks team in Dallas. Between Lebron James, Anthony Davis, and Danny Green, it has been a different star carrying the team each night. This time the game belonged to Davis with a 25 point output in the 103-96 win. Los Angeles is now the top team in the Western Conference at 5-1. Ever since their opening night loss to the L.A Clippers, they have won 5 games in a row.

Top-Notch Defense

The Lakers currently hold the 3rd best defense in the NBA holding opponents to exactly 100 points per game. Having a quality defense was sure to be a point of emphasis for Head Coach, Frank Vogel. His focus is to get stops on a huge portion of their opponent’s possessions and to not allow any easy baskets. The Lakers have 3 quality rim protectors to help this style of play. Javale McGee, Dwight Howard, and Anthony Davis are some of the best defenders the league has to offer. It’s also hard to miss the fact that the Lakers have Lebron James who is one of the best defensive players of all time.

Kuzma Back in Action

Kyle Kuzma was finally able to make his 2019 debut in the Lakers 7 point win over the Spurs. Coming off of an injury, he only played half the amount of minutes he usually does, but was still able to put his name into the box score. Kuzma finished with 5 points and 3 rebounds. He even made a last-second shot to end the 1st half.

Next Game

The Lakers will fly out of Texas into Illinois to finish off their road trip against the Bulls. The game will be aired on NBA TV and Spectrum Sportsnet at 5 pm PST.
