Rams trade for Jalen Ramsey

On Tuesday, Los Angeles Rams were a part of a blockbuster deal trading for All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey from Jacksonville. Ramsey, who had been in the headlines for getting into a heated confrontation with head coach Doug Marrone, finally got his wish of being traded away.

The Los Angeles Rams, who desperately needed a number one cornerback, traded for arguably the best one in the National Football League. The Rams traded away their 2020 and 2021 first round picks to the Jaguars, leaving Los Angeles without a first round pick for the next five years.

The Ramsey trade was surprising for many people around the NFL, especially after Jaguars owner Shad Khan said he did not plan on trading his young star. Ramsey joins a top ten defense in Los Angeles which includes reigning Defensive player of the year Aaron Donald.

The Rams placed starting cornerback Aqib Talib on injured reserve on Monday. Los Angeles also traded away starting corner Marcus Peters to Baltimore in exchange for linebacker Kenny Young.

Ramsey, who is currently on his rookie deal is expected to play Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. The All-Pro cornerback is currently signed through 2020 and expects to be paid top tier dollar once his contract expires.

The 24 year old was drafted fifth overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2016 NFL Draft. Ramsey, was an All Pro cornerback in 2017 and was selected to the Pro Bowl two consecutive years.

Ramsey told Uninterrupted’s Podcast he’s “overjoyed” with the trade to the Rams. He also said ” I’m currently just walking outside right now. God is the greatest,God makes no mistakes at all. No mistakes at all. I’ve been so blessed.”
