Women’s Softball: Rio Hondo Softball beat Compton Tartars

Rio Hondo women’s softball team are back to winning ways as they beat the Compton Tartars 7-2 at the Rio Hondo softball field on Thursday, March 14.

Great Performance for Rio Hondo

One of the best performances this season, the Lady Roadrunners showed pride and desire throughout the match, while Compton were distracted offensively the entire game. Rio Hondo defense were on point making Compton look weak in the first inning.

The Tartars were confident to win the clash, but the Roadrunners showed no mercy. Rio Hondo pitcher Madeline Peralta was superb because her throwing was sufficient. Compton softball team had problems making contact with the ball and they were not excited.

The ladies from Rio made couple of hits advancing to first and second base. Compton pitcher made it easier for the Roadrunners to make contact.

Rio Hondo scored an early run in the second inning making the visitors lose by one. The ladies from Rio celebrated like crazy while Compton were quiet and shocked in the dugout. The Roadrunners did not surrender and wanted to score more runs.

When Compton College were batting, Rio Hondo communication was outstanding. They passed the ball quickly to their teammates making it difficult for their rivals to reach home base.

The Roadrunners hit couple of singles and doubles during the game, while Compton Tartars defense was shocking when the ladies from Rio were running towards home base. Compton head coach was not impress by the ladies performance during the match.

Rio Hondo dominated the whole game managing to score four more runs with confidence. This game was Rio Hondo biggest win this season. The ladies from Compton tried to attacked back hitting doubles, but it was hard for them to score.

Compton responded well making the result 6-2. The Roadrunners started to get nervous in the last inning of the match, but they safely made another run.  After the game, Rio Hondo celebrated their third victory with a smile on their face. While Compton lost thirteen matches this campaign.

“The girls have been making consistent progress over last couple weeks,” said Bianca Urquidi the head coach of Rio Hondo softball team. “Their a young team.”

Rio Hondo must now be consistent every game to win games home and away. They take on Cerro Coso twice on Mar. 15.
